April 18, 2012. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Basic Skills Department and Global Diversity Committee will host a free film screening for Earth Day on April 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 112 of the Watauga Campus in Boone. The film, “One Day on Earth,” premieres globally on April 22 and documents a 24-hour period in the human experience. The screening is open to the public. For more information, call 297-5253.

The Watauga Small Business Center will host the free seminar “Protecting Your Business From Financial Fraud” from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at the Watauga Library in downtown Boone. Audrey T. Gurkin, Vice President/Banking Center Manager at Bank of America, will provide the steps to assist small business owners in implementing a fraud prevention plan. The Watauga Small Business Center will host the free seminar “Trickle Down Economics: Value of Plumbing Audits” from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8. The featured speaker will be Andy Krause of Thunder Hill Plumbing, who will help educate the public on the value of water conservation and how small fixes can add dollars to the bottom line.
