Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University Presents a Public Lecture by Cavan Huang

Oct. 12, 2012. The Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University is pleased to present “Interactive Narratives: Visual Storytelling for the Digital Age,” a lecture by visiting designer Cavan Huang. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 in Belk Library and Information Commons, room 114. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Cavan Huang designs in all manners and scale from printed page to web page, broadcast media to media walls.

In his talk, Huang will discuss the role that motion graphics and digital design play in creating narrative, visual experiences. His work integrates design direction, creative strategy, branding, interactive interfaces, graphic design, animation, editing, music and storytelling. Huang has built designs for TED Talk, Time Warner, and AIGA promotions and presentations that embody smart design and expressive communication that viewers remember.

About the Designer

Cavan Huang is a design director at Interbrand in New York where he is helping to redefine the way we express brands across different media platforms. Beyond design direction, he is also an editor, animator, web-developer, musician, photographer and storyteller. Huang is also creative principal of his own design practice as well as a visiting professor for Rhode Island School of Design. He holds a BA in History & Urban Planning from McGill University and an MFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design.
