Sept. 30, 2013. On Wednesday evening, Oct. 2, the Jones House Community Center in Downtown Boone will host a unique indoor concert featuring Bruce Molsky.

“He was here last year for the inaugural Appalachian State Fiddler’s Convention, and her performed to an enthusiastic, standing-room-only crowd in the Blue Ridge Ballroom,” said Mark Freed, who organized the event at the Jones House.

molsky.inside“The Fiddler’s Convention Group tried to arrange bringing him back, but it did not fit his touring schedule. Instead, he was traveling through the area in early October and asked be about doing a performance in Boone. Because October can be hit-or-miss weather-wise, and because Bruce’s music is acoustic and subtle, the indoor environment made perfect sense. The intimate environment of the Jones House’s Mazie Jones Gallery will be similar to a living room-style house concert. For a solo folk musician, that is a perfect environment for both performer and audience.”

The Mazie Jones Gallery is the main, downstairs gallery in the middle of the Jones House interior. The venue will provide an intimate, controlled and quiet concert for the audience to enjoy, and will allow Molsky to play in an environment that is conducive to his style.

There are two performances scheduled for the night, one at 7 p.m. and one at 9 p.m. The performances are expected to sell out completely, as each performance can fit 42 people.

To reserve your seats, call the Jones House at 828-262-4576 to make reservations. Currently, there are still a few seats left for the 9 p.m. performance.

“The outdoor concerts are fun because everyone can attend and we can make a big sound in downtown Boone,” Freed said. “The indoor concert will be the opposite-intimate, close, quiet and controlled.”

This is a singular concert, not a series. The Jones House Community Center is located at 604 West King Street in downtown Boone. To visit the Jones House website, click here
