Bring the Whole Gang for Fun and Games to Grandfather Mountain State Park’s Family Day on Sept. 22

Aug. 27, 2012. Join state park rangers for a fun day of games and activities for kids and adults of all ages. Bring your family and join the fun at Grandfather Mountain State Park Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Family Day is located at the Foscoe/Grandfather Community Building next to the Grandfather RV Park on Highway 105 South. The GPS address is 125 Riverside Drive, Banner Elk.

This event is free and open to the public.

Participants can play a game of ‘bat’minton and other games, make nature art and take a short nature hike. Camping demonstrations will include camp cooking and even testing out a hammock. Participants will be able to meet a llama and see what wool looks like long before it has become a hiking sock. A search and rescue dog will demonstrate his skills. Park rangers will be there to answer state park questions.

Special guests include US Fish and Wildlife Service, NC Division Air Quality, Apple Hill Farm, The Watauga River Keeper, Friends of High Country State Parks, Genesis Wildlife Rehabilitators and more.
