June 14, 2012. The 28th year of An Appalachian Summer Festival will begin in less than two weeks and tickets for several events are going fast. “An Evening with Bill Cosby” on Saturday, June 30, is already sold out for both showtimes. Tickets are still available for the Creedence Clearwater Revisited concert at Kidd Brewer Stadium and for Chicago and The Doobie Brothers at the Holmes Convocation Center.
These three shows are just a few of the highlights for An Appalachian Summer Festival. The annual summer event is packed with fun things to do for everyone. Our calendar (right) lists all the great shows and events throughout the summer.
“Every year we try to outdo ourselves,” said Megan Stage, marketing and public relations manager with the Office of Arts and Cultural Programs (OACP). “Every year we kind of set very lofty goals. We really try to listen to our audience members and the community members that talk about what they would like to see and then we just try to go out and find the best artists that fit that kind of criteria.”
According to the Farthing Auditorium Box Office, there are still 10,554 tickets remaining for the outdoor fireworks concert featuring Creedence Clearwater Revisited with special guest Lee Brice. 1,446 tickets have been sold as of 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14.
The performance is on Saturday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
For the Chicago and The Doobie Brothers concert, there are still 2,936 tickets remaining. 2,064 have been sold.
The performance is on Wednesday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center.
“We’ve never had so many big names in one festival before,” said Stage. “This year I think we’ve done the best job of kind of marrying those classic artists … and artists that resonate with all ages.”
