May 6, 2012. Each spring Boone Service League holds its largest fund raiser of the year and this year there is a new twist. The band “Soul Benefactor” will be inspiring attendees to dance the night away as if it were the 1960’s all over again. On Friday, May 11, the festivities begin at 7:00 at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock with plenty of food, music, dancing, a cash bar, silent auctions galore, and several live auctions featuring auctioneer Jenny Miller. Tickets are $35 each or $60 per couple, so grab a partner and join the fun! Tickets are available from any Boone Service League member or by going online at booneserviceleague.org, or by calling Susan at 828-264-9955.
Hundreds of items are available at the silent auction, with some wonderful bargains to be had. Everything can be found from restaurant gift certificates to overnight stays, from “An Appalachian Summer” tickets to ski and tubing passes, from pet supplies to spa treatments, from artwork to fashion items, from home décor to oil changes, and much, much more. Don’t miss this fun evening!
Boone Service League is a group of High Country women whose fund raising efforts help meet many needs right here at home. All funds raised stay right her in Ashe, Avery and Watauga Counties. Each year numerous grants are awarded to High Country non-profit organizations for special projects, several scholarships are presented each year to deserving young people who need a little extra help with tuition costs, and throughout the year direct assistance is given to families who experience unexpected emergency financial difficulty due to fire, illness, employment changes, loss of a breadwinner, and any number of other situations.
So come support a good cause and have a fun evening at the same time. See you there!
