Public Asked To Avoid Hillcrest Circle in Boone During Armed Negotiation, Now Resolved

Update: Today at approximately 1:30 p.m., Boone Police responded to Hillcrest Circle for an armed person suffering emotional distress and some medical issues. Boone Police officers established a perimeter around the scene and initiated negotiations. After approximately 5-1/2 hours, the person voluntarily exited their residence and was transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.

Boone Police Asks Public To Avoid Hillcrest Circle; No Danger to General Public

There were no injuries from this incident. No criminal charges will be filed.

Boone Police are currently dealing with a law enforcement situation in the area of Hillcrest Circle in Boone, according to notice at about 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. There is no danger to the general public. Citizens are asked to avoid this area due to road closures.

Boone Police Department spokesman Shane Robbins said he couldn’t provide more information as of 6:15 p.m.
