Sept. 27, 2013. On Sunday, Sept. 29, the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum will celebrate its second birthday with a special birthday party celebration at the museum.

To celebrate two years with the community, the museum will be open to the public free of admission from 1-5 p.m, said Allison Wonsick, communications coordinator for the BRAHM.

The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is located at 159 Chestnut Street in Blowing Rock.

Exhibits available for viewing during the birthday party celebration include their newest exhibit, “The Child Before Us.”

The exhibit, which is the newest exhibit featured in the Historical Objects Gallery features many items both historical and modern that tell the story of the Grandfather Home for Children. Included in the exhibit are photographs, a timeline, a train set, and even artwork, both modern and historical, created by the children who lived in the home.

Also available is the long-running Art Among Friends exhibit, featuring American impressionists from many different collections. The “Art Among Friends” exhibit features 81 pieces, one of which is a bronze sculpture while the rest of the works are paintings. Most paintings in the display were completed from the 1880s through the 1940s. These pieces exemplify American impressionist and realist style in the early 20th century, said Allyson Teague, the exhibit manager at the BRAHM.

There truly will be something for everyone at this exciting birthday celebration, so come out with the whole family to enjoy the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum’s second birthday.
