Bill Targeting Town of Boone’s Eminent Domain of Land for Intake Project Passes

A bill targeting the Town of Boone for condemning land outside of its jurisdiction for a water intake system along the South Fork of the New River passed in the N.C. General Assembly on Thursday morning

House Bill 875, which was sponsored by Rep. Jonathan Jordan in April and advanced by Sen. Dan Soucek yesterday, prevents municipalities in Ashe and Watauga counties from exercising eminent domain outside of its planning jurisdiction without the consent of elected officials in those counties.
