April 3, 2012. BOONE — Appalachian State University’s annual summer arts attraction, An Appalachian Summer Festival, announces the 28th season to take place June 30- July 28, 2012. The 2012 schedule presents a diverse and unique mixture of music, dance, theatre, visual arts and film events and attracts over 27,000 visitors to the High Country each summer. The festival is packing up the bus once again and headed down to Greensboro for a pre-festival event featuring Triad Stage’s performance of The Illusion on Sunday, June 24. Visual Arts Workshops
Throughout the month of the July, An Appalachian Summer Festival in partnership with the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts offer various workshops for children, older teens and adults. Tickets
Tickets to An Appalachian Summer Festival performances go on sale Wednesday, April 11 at 9 a.m. EST. Prices range from $5 – $50 depending on the event.  Most visual arts and educational events are free of charge.  The festival’s popular “Pick 5” pass discounts tickets purchased in multiples of five and the Film Pass offers a 10% discount when a ticket to all films are purchased. About An Appalachian Summer Festival
An Appalachian Summer Festival is presented annually in July by the university’s Office of Arts and Cultural Programs. Begun as a small chamber music series founded by festival patrons Arnold and Muriel Rosen, the festival is now one of the nation’s most highly regarded, multi-disciplinary art festivals.  While many of its artists are world-renowned, this distinctive arts celebration also prides itself on presenting new works from emerging artists whose names may not be instantly recognizable, but who many festival fans claim have created some of their most memorable moments.True to a university-based arts festival, educational opportunities, including lectures and chances to meet artists, artistic directors, competition jurors and other experts, have always been an important component of festival programming.
