June 26, 2012. Appalachian State University’s annual summer arts attraction, An Appalachian Summer Festival, begins Saturday with two sold out shows and continues the following week with a classical music competition, a french film, an art exhibition opening and an outdoor fireworks concert with classic rock legends and a country music star. An Evening with Bill Cosby-SOLD OUT
June 30, 4 p.m. & 8 p.m.
Farthing Auditorium, Appalachian State University
Iconic actor, author and comedian, Bill Cosby, comes to the campus of Appalachian State University to perform two shows on Saturday, June 30. With both performances selling out more than two weeks before the show, Cosby is the opening event of the 2012 Appalachian Summer Festival—a month-long multidisciplinary arts festival in the High Country of North Carolina. Rosen-Schaffel Young Artist Competition
July 1, 1-5 p.m.
Rosen Concert Hall, Appalachian State University
The second annual Rosen-Schaffel Young Artist Competition provides a platform for eight young classical music performers to share their talent in front of an audience and a jury panel consisting of three world-renowned orchestra conductors. The top three performers, chosen by the jury, are awarded cash prizes with the first place winner receiving the opportunity to return to the festival the following year and perform a solo with the Eastern Festival Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Schwarz. Turchin Center Summer Exhibition Celebration

A part of downtown Boone’s First Friday Art Crawl, the Turchin Center opens new exhibitions and celebrates current ones during the biggest summer art party in the High Country! Workshops and Tours
