Jan. 6, 2015. On Saturday, Jan. 10, Beech Mountain Resort will host the first ever Winterfest Beer Festival, which will feature breweries and cideries from all over North Carolina to the top of Beech Mountain for a day of brews, views and winter fun. For a limited time, tickets will be just $40.

“Since we started our own brewery more than a year ago, we have taken a vested interest in the beer industry and we wanted to provide a unique event in the High Country,” said Talia Freeman, director of marketing at Beech Mountain Resort.

“There isn’t really a beer festival around here in the winter months, so we wanted to take the opportunity to have one.”

The event will feature a total of 14 breweries and one cidery, and will feature more than 50 varieties of craft brews and ciders. On hand will be the NC Beer Guys, Carolina Glenn and Dave, to talk to patrons and answer any questions they might have about North Carolina beers and breweries.

Participating breweries include the following:

  • Appalachian Mountain Brewery
  • Aviator Brewing Company
  • Beech Mountain Brewing Company
  • Blind Squirrel Brewery
  • Blowing Rock Brewing Company
  • Boondocks Brewing
  • Flat Top Brewing Company
  • Fonta Flora Brewery
  • Foothills Craft Brews
  • Granite Falls Brewing Company
  • Howard Brewing
  • Ivory Tower Brewery
  • Lost Province Brewing Company
  • Urban Orchard Cider Company

Doors for the event will open at 2:30 p.m. and the beer festival will be churning out tasty brews through 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $55 the day of the event, but tickets are selling out fast! Advanced tickets are also available online for just $45.

“This event is selling out really quickly,” Freeman said. “My suggestion would be to buy tickets online right now because they are going really fast. I suggest that people buy them in advance or book lodging here with the Pinnacle Inn since they are running a lodging package. This is a smaller beer festival, I am only releasing 250 tickets total, which I think is part of the appeal. It is a very small indoor beer festival held inside The Beech Tree, and we think it’s going to be great.”

Included with the ticket price is a tasting glass, beer samples, and live music courtesy of Zach Deputy.

Zach Deputy offers a true one-man-band powerhouse of performance. Layering sounds through the magic of technology, this soulful singer and shredding guitarist captures his audience with his unique and unmatched talent. Be ready for a foot-stomping, glass raising kind of night.

For after the event, Beech Mountain Resort encourages all participants to seek a safe ride home, whether with a designated driver or with the Beech Mountain shuttle.

“I think that this weekend is going to be one of the best weekends ski condition wise that we have had all year,” Freeman said. “It is really nice outside and I think that this is going to be a great and really unique small event that you can’t get at a lot of other beer festivals. You will get a chance to really talk to the brewers, where in many festivals you can’t even hear yourself think. This is another really cool way that we can help grow the brewing community and it will be nice to get everyone together and get everyone out there.”
