Aug. 7, 2012. Heal Everyone and Love Everyone (HEALE) is bringing awareness to the challenges of high cost medical bills. Live music (including Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band), a raffle, silent auction and a fun filled kids area will be at Avery’s Spring Disc Golf Course on Saturday, Aug. 25.
HEALE along with DrumSTRONG (http://drumstrong.org/) is offering a one-day live music event. This event is on behalf of raising funds for local musician, Debrissa McKinney(Laura Reed, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, etc) who recently battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We invite the public to support the local music community and raise money through your attendance and participation in the silent auction and raffle at Avery’s Spring Disc Golf Course on Saturday August 25th.
DrumSTRONG raises awareness and funds for cancer organizations globally through family-friendly rhythm events. Supporting survivorship, education and research for all cancers; all populations. DrumsForCures was created as a natural expression of founder Scott Swimmer’s family and their desire to be a vibrant part of beating cancer. Since rhythm is universal Swimmer decided that an event centered around the art and fun of hands on drumming would be a great way to bring people together. drumSTRONG’s mission is to provide a vehicle for health entities and cancer societies to show communities the resources at hand to assist in directing and easing cancer concerns.
Along with drumSTRONG, HEALE is providing Asheville another chance to get involved and raise awareness on the financial challenges of high cost medical bills. Bands will be performing from 12-7 p.m., and will include (but are not limited to) Duende Mountain Duo, Kung Fu Dynamite, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and Asheville’s favorite funk institute Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band. A silent auction and raffle including great prizes from Eco Mountain, Moog and other local business will provide the community a chance to win prizes and raise money. An interactive kids area that will include hula hoops, drums, mini golf and other activities makes this event something the whole family can come out for.
Beer provided by Asheville Pizza and Brewing, along with The Meltdown food truck will be available to keep patrons hydrated and satiated. This one day event will be on the not to miss list of the 2012 Summer. Bring your wallets, your kids as well as your dancing shoes, and be reminded why our community is highly respected for our abounding outpouring of support through healing and loving everyone.
