Items needed at the time of screening include proof of residence and proof of income.

Applications are available at your neighborhood elementary school; at the Avery County School Board, located at 775 Cranberry Street in Newland; and online in a printable form at http://www.averyschools.net//Domain/23.

After the application process is complete, each Pre-K teacher will contact applicants for a free screening appointment at their respective school. During the screening process, parents and children will be allowed to explore the Pre-K classrooms to meet new classmates, teachers and school administrators.

Birth to kindergarten certified lead teachers are in all classrooms and child-care credentialed assistants are in all classrooms, too.
