Sept. 3, 2012. The arrests began before the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte even started – and an ASU student was among the first two people detained.

Organizing at Frazier Park, hundreds of protesters – in what was dubbed as “March on Wall Street South” – marched in uptown Charlotte Sunday protesting Wall Street and drones, among other things, according to WSOC-TV Channel 9.

According to an arrest report from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old ASU student Anna Marie Wright was arrested on Sunday at 2:43 p.m. at 4th and College streets. She was charged with a misdemeanor of carrying a concealed weapon, labeled “a cutting instrument.”

Channel 9 reported that she was wearing a mask, which the city banned earlier in the year when it passed an ordinance making the donning of masks during events such as the Democratic National Convention illegal.

That “mask” was a scarf – see here

The station also reported that, Wright said she was using the box cutter to cut banners.

She was released with no bond and a written notice to appear in court.
