Feb. 14, 2014. This Saturday, Feb. 15, Appalachian State’s Glee Club will hold a concert celebrating their 50th Anniversary in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall.

Organized in Fall of 1962 as an extracurricular musical ensemble, and later becoming an accredited performing organization in the School of Music in 1966, ASU’s Glee Club has much to celebrate. The group has continued to grow and flourish ever since it began, operating under various directors over the years.

This year marks 50 years of song for Glee Club.

Glee Club will be welcoming some beloved alumni back to the stage to give an unforgettable performance under the direction of Dr. Phillip Paul, professor emeritus from the Hayes School of Music faculty and Glee Club founder, as well as Dr. Clinton Parker, professor emeritus and former Glee Club director.

The program will include selections from the following: “Sweet Love Doth Now Invite,” “Behold Man,” “Salvation is Created,” “What Kind of Peace,” “Last Words of David,” “When I Fall in Love,” “Soon I Will Be Done” and “Brother’s Sing On,” with accompaniment from Joby Bell, Kimberly Franklin, Ann Miles and Lisa Runner.

The concert will be held in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at 8 p.m. on Saturday and will be free and open to the public.
