Wine and Women
Wine and Women will be July 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Steve and Kim Kincaid.
Champagne Luncheon Featuring Styles by Nordstrom
For 34 years, the Committee for the Blowing Rock Hospital Fashion Show and Luncheon has presented the only major fundraiser for Blowing Rock Hospital. The luncheon begins with a champagne reception and silent auction with donations from local merchants and residents. The “Woman of the Year” award is always presented at the luncheon, and attendees are treated to a fabulous fashion show, usually modeled by their friends in the community and lunch prepared by the chefs of Blowing Rock Country Club. The patients of Blowing Rock Hospital have benefited from this fundraiser in many ways; most recently by receiving new beds and furniture purchased with proceeds from the event.
Plans for the 35th Annual Blowing Rock Hospital Benefit and Luncheon are feverishly underway. The luncheon will be held on Friday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at Blowing Rock Country Club.
Committee members Linda Campbell, Marty Couch, Suzanne Miller and Glenda Talley are pleased to announce that Nordstrom of South Park in Charlotte will present the fashions on the runway at the 2012 event. Karen Bailey and Hade Robinson, Jr., Customer Relationship Manager and Personal Stylist Manager for Nordstrom have met with the committee chairs and are looking forward to the annual event.
“We are excited about the fundraiser and about helping Blowing Rock Hospital,” said Karen Bailey, Customer Relationship Manager for Nordstrom. “Nordstrom loves to present their fashions in these venues and we are very conscious of giving back to the community.”
Having a merchant from Charlotte is a bit of a departure from the norm, but “2012 is the 35th year for the luncheon and we anticipate it being bigger than ever,” said Chairman Linda Campbell. “After using local merchants for at least the past five years, we thought we would invite a store from off the mountain to participate in this 35th anniversary milestone.”
Proceeds will continue to benefit the Blowing Rock entity of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System.
“All monies raised from the 2012 summer events will be directed to the building fund for the planned post-acute care facility in Blowing Rock,” said Megan Lynch Ellis, Special Events Coordinator for Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation.
“Denim and Diamonds” Patron’s Party
A “Denim and Diamonds” Patron’s Party will be held at Blowing Rock Country Club on Saturday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. “This event gives our guests the chance to dress in their jeans and jewels, without the formality of a tuxedo,” said Suzanne Miller. “We have a lot of fun ideas for the Patron’s Party and we’ll be working to plan a fabulous event, a terrific luncheon and a few surprises!”
