June 8, 2012. The Watauga County Arts Council has a New Gallery and Shop, and they need your help. The new gallery’s home is in downtown Boone, in the space formerly occupied by High Country Bank. Here they plan on hosting artist’s exhibitions, as well as featuring local arts and crafts for sale. To make this happen, they need a staff of volunteers.

They plan to be open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to be a part of the exciting transformation.

Volunteer Orientations will be held at 783 West King St. on:

Tuesday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Monday, June 18 at 2 p.m.

The Watauga Arts Council is very excited about this wonderful opportunity to offer artists a new venue for sharing their wonderful creations with the community. They plan to continue their previously scheduled gallery exhibitions and launched their preview night on June 1 with an exhibition of wonderful photography by Brenda Ellis.  They also unveiled the new home of the Serendipity Gallery, which has been assigned a specially designated area to showcase the work of the talented artists from the Lois E. Harrell Senior Center and the Cove Creek Community Center under the direction of Marsha Holmes.

In the next couple of weeks, the Watauga Arts Council will be beginning to solicit artwork from area artists for the retail area and we are currently soliciting volunteers to help keep the galleries open.  Volunteer orientations have been scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. and Monday, June 18 at 2 p.m.
