May 29, 2012. Looking for a furry friend to accompany you on your summer adventures?
Walmart is not your typical location for pet adoption, but this Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 the Watauga Humane Society will set up shop outside of the super center with some of their adorable pups.
From noon to 4 p.m. both days, the Society’s dogs will greet shoppers as they run their daily errands. Humane society volunteers will also be present to educate the public on programs offered through the society. A local veterinarian and local pet service and store representatives will be on hand as well. The Society will bring one dog per volunteer. The number of volunteers is yet to be determined.
People interested in volunteering may come by the Humane Society office at 312 Paws Way in Boone to pick up an application, or call 828-264-7865 to request an application by mail.
Dubbed “Operation-Save-a-Pet,” the Humane Society will be looking for forever families offering their love and care to their pooches patiently waiting for a place to call home. If someone finds themselves swept off their feet by a prospective pooch, they will be welcomed to visit the Humane Society to fill out adoption forms.
The Humane Society first hosted Operation-Save-a-Pet with Walmart in April. After a successful event, Walmart has approached the Humane Society to make this a monthly event. The Humane Society hosts a number of events throughout Watauga, at places like Aaron’s or events like Art in the Park.
So stop by and pet a pup! Or, just bring one home and let them fill your life with love.
