With dinner catered by Casa Rustica, the evening features debates between local GOP candidates for State Senate District 45 and State House District 93. Lew Hendricks, an Iraq War veteran, is challenging incumbent Rep. Jonathan Jordan for a seat in the N.C. House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Deanna Ballard of Blowing Rock and Ken Boham, president of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, are vying for Sen. Dan Soucek’s seat in the N.C. Senate. Soucek opted to not seek reelection.

All four candidates will attend the debate, which will be moderated by Four Eggers, who is county attorney, and Nathan Miller, an attorney and former Watauga County Board of Commissioner.

In addition to the debate, Watauga County Republican Party Chair Anne-Marie Yates said that other Republican candidates will be on hand to speak to those in attendance and that there will be video feed shown featuring other GOP candidates from around the state.

“We want to give people as much access to candidates as possible,” Yates said.

Yates said that a courtesy RSVP to WataugaGOP@gmail.com or 828-263-4350 is appreciated by Thursday, Feb. 11.

Tickets, which include dinner, will be sold for $30 at the door.
