LETTERS/ Tunnel Vision

Dear Editor:

In the U.S.A. all eyes and ideas are on business. Especially our elected officials who vote against “harmful regulations” that may be bad for BUSINESS!

On Jan. 16, 2014, 300,000 people in Charleston, West Virginia woke up to their toxic drinking, bathing and cooking water. Why did this happen? No regulations, standards and inspections were set in place by the elected officials of West Virginia. TO me, this is a case of criminal negligence on the part of legislators and Freedom Industries (no research has, to the date of this writing, been done on the toxic chemical which leaked into the Elk River).

This crisis will certainly make me take a closer look at how our elected officials vote, putting business interests over welfare of the people an environmental issues.

Thanks to Appalachian Voices for providing us information on how our local representatives vote on environmental bills in Congress and Senate.
