LETTERS / Great Experience at Horn in the West This Year!

Dear Editor,

I have lived in Boone my whole life, and have seen the Horn in the West every summer, but I never remember the dancing and fighting being as enthralling as they are this year.  Whether the actors were stepping in unison or throwing their bodies at one another, the energy on the stage went through the sky!  I was beaming with delight as their eyes gleamed while they spun around one another.  I was grimacing with hatred for the “redcoats” as the brave pioneers fought for their lives.  The zenith of emotion hit me when Jack stood on top of the rock and read the Declaration of Independence.  In that moment on that night in July, I realized how homegrown and beautiful our revolution story truly is. I can’t think of many better ways to spend a cool, summer night in the high country than to experience life in the 1700’s at the Horn in the West.
