LETTERS / You’re in Prison

Dear Editor,

“Producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda, or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.” Aldous Huxley

Propaganda can be used to mislead you about why something happened and/or to promote an ongoing agenda. It works well when uninformed viewers aren’t curious. America operates inside a bubble of willful ignorance of its own making. Secrecy is a religion in America. Those who violate its dogma have been punished excessively when they possess little political power or influence. The exoneration of Hillary by the FBI should be sufficient evidence to assure you that in the Empire power is determined by your wealth and your connections. This is one symptom of the cancer that is destroying our country.

To keep the world safe from commies, America became a national-security state, much like the commies. ‘Our leaders’ constantly cry poverty when it comes to rebuilding our infrastructure or keeping our air and water clean, yet there’s always money for new wars. Lively, engaged voters might balance government actions, but as ‘consumers’ they’ve been distracted and lobotomized by an ever-increasing workload, stimulated by chasing gadgets and fun.

Public schools never teach ‘consumers’ to think logically or clearly. Submission/compliance is sold as the important thing to learn. We have several megacorporations serving all the news and media that comes into our minds. The script is; “Be afraid” expecting we’ll shake with fear and beg for greater government control, because of that fear. Makes you wonder who the real terrorists are.

We’re absorbed by fear, confusion, poverty, and hate mainly because ‘our’ elites have demanded that we believe their lies: too many Americans have obeyed. It’s easy to dislike ‘them’. It’s a tool used by ‘our’ rulers to distract us from what’s really happening: what their agenda really is. As long as we mechanically obey those who stole our future, they will never give it back and we keep surrendering to the same criminals who took it from us.

An advantage of real democracy is that it allows for peaceful change when public opinion changes. It certainly doesn’t guarantee freedom, as we’ve seen in America, which has a ‘democratic’ political system, a socialist welfare-state economic system, and an oppressive national-security state, warfare-state apparatus, all overflowing with frequent reminders of corruption.

‘Our government’, wants you to remember your humanitarian impulses when refugees, dispossessed and victimized by our wars, come here. We ramped up the Syrian war by funding, arming and helping to create ISIS, but don’t think about that. The Empire is in the business of creating victims. They’ll turn you into a victim, too and then you can depend on government to give you what you need.

When bad guys appear, we assume that government mass surveillance will keep us safe, but this is regularly proven un-true. ‘Our’ government isn’t the country and doesn’t represent you. The states have abandoned power to the Feds. If the people are the country and the government is its creation, then the solution is clear.

Those who’ve long controlled American foreign policy also own and control ‘our’ corrupt ‘two party’ system. Electing a democrat or republican to office has been the elite’s devious way of giving voters an illusion of choice but before any election the ruling elite handpicks candidates to ensure that every president is a puppet following orders.

Once there was a one person, one vote reality, now its one dollar, one vote. There are good reasons why many Americans don’t vote. It’s not that they don’t object when their votes are suppressed, but they clearly judge ‘our’ government to be so corrupt that voting is pointless. Withholding your vote is withholding your consent. It’s a vote for ‘none of the above’.

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”

Woodrow Wilson

The Empire always looks for new villains to hate and destroy. Since the founding of this country there has been a long trail of dead bodies created by us, instigated by ‘burning issues’, presented by our ‘leaders’ and voted for by ‘consumers’ who feel safer with each death America creates. The ‘brave’ certainly are fearful.

The National Endowment for Democracy and other American think tanks, funded by ‘our government’, train and fund ‘NGOs’ worldwide, to infiltrate counties’ internal affairs, where the Empire wants to achieve soft regime change, as opposed to hard regime change, which involves the Empire’s military, proxy-armies, mercenaries and NATO. Such destabilization movements, soft and otherwise, thrive worldwide, along with Neocon inventions; the Arab Spring, and Color Revolutions. If propaganda alone doesn’t do the trick, the Empire imposed changes are boosted with false flags, and ‘civil wars’. Recent examples are Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, to name just a few.

“If you consider that “authoritarian” China has four times the population of the United States but fewer prisoners, you understand that “authoritarian” China has a more protective rule of law than the United States. Compared to “freedom and democracy America,” Russia has hardly anyone in prison. Yet, Washington and its media whores have defined the President of Russia as “the new Hitler.” The only thing we can conclude from the facts is that the United States Government and those ignorant fools who worship it are evil incarnate.” Paul Craig Roberts

‘Our’ government insists that its laws and commands take priority over the autonomy of nations, and claims authority of American courts over foreign activities of which American interest groups disapprove.

“Political satire became obsolete when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.” Tom Lehrer

‘Consumers’ see no swastikas and so believe that America is a democracy. Truth is the enemy of government, controlled by small groups, who use government to pursue their private agendas. The idea that government serves public interests is one of their great frauds. We have reduced ourselves to a mostly silent, passive population, content to watch and not do, making us our own worst enemy. The founders didn’t fear free speech. They embraced it, knowing all too well that a nation without an enthusiastic tolerance for free speech, no matter how provocative, or insensitive, will be easy prey for a police state where only government approved speech is allowed. ‘Consumers’ behave and believe as they’re told in Police states.

Ignorance and indifference to facts rules in America. Everyone is into their ‘own thing’ and/or whatever may be preoccupying the mass mind, while important things go begging for serious attention, leadership, and corrective action. This political climate is perfect for political criminals to thrive, and they have. Lies and attacks on common sense that more alert ‘consumers’ would have little trouble ignoring are effectively unchallenged in America. Dissenting voices have been eradicated from the mass mind, and true dissenters are safely confined to ‘free speech ghettos’.

An energetic, better educated public, more attentive to the rapid disintegration of the last shreds of their ‘democracy’ wouldn’t have permitted our situation. If ‘consumers’ understood America’s actions in the world they might have stopped the warmongers. There would have been no Korean War, no Vietnam, no invasion/destruction, overthrow or lethal harassment of legitimate governments in dozens of nations on transparently trumped-up charges, now destroyed with millions dead or displaced.

‘Our’ politicians say there’s too much violence here as they attack the world, selling guns we aren’t allowed to have, to the world.

“The evils of tyranny are rarely seen but by him who resists it.” John Hay

Some ‘consumers’ will accept little of this because the ‘News’ tells them all they want to know. ‘Our’ government is a jealous master. It wants to define, control, and solve problems. It doesn’t really matter whether the problems are overcome, as long as ‘government’ is in charge.
