Sept. 4, 2013. Right about now, property bills are arriving into the mailboxes of Watauga County property owners for 2013.

Tax Administrator Larry Warren noted that the value of all the bills combined is in excess of $36 million and includes the fire districts and the Town of Boone. Warren noted that the Town of Blowing Rock and Seven Devils collect its own municipal taxes.

The property tax rate for 2013-14 fiscal year is $0.313 cents per $100. Of that amount, $0.0341 is set aside for school capital projects.

The collection rate hovers just below 98 percent, something that the Watauga County Board of Commissioners have complimented Warren and his tax department on many times before.

Bills are due on Sept, 1, 2013 but aren’t past due until Jan. 6, 2014.
