Jan. 14, 2012. On Sunday afternoon, a Zionville man died in a motorcycle accident near his home.
In the process of passing another motorcyclist, Christopher Thomas Higgins, 51, ran off the road, collided into a culvert and flipped multiple times with his motorcyle, according to a spokesman with the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on old U.S. 421, which is the road on which Higgins resides. According to reports, witnesses on the scene found him not breathing and performed CPR in hopes of reviving Higgins.
The N.C. Highway Patrol spokesman said Watauga Medics then arrived, transporting him to Watauga Medical Center, where Higgins was dead on arrival.
