19-year-old pianist Kasey Stokes will present the next concert in the Sunday afternoon summer concert series at St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church on Sunday, July 1st, at 3 pm. Stokes studies with Dr. Dror Biran at one of the nation’s leading music conservatories, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Stokes has chosen a varied program ranging from a Bach Prelude and Fugue, Brahms Intermezzi, and Liszt Etudes, and pieces by Ravel and Debussy, to a selection of popular and patriotic tunes appropriate for the July holidays.
Stokes grew up in Boone, where she studied with Drs. Christina Hayes, Bair Shagdaron, and Rodney Reynerson, as well as summer studies at the Cannon Music Camp where she took the top Keyboardist Award, and at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Piano Academy. In addition to taking master classes with a number of noted pianists, Stokes has won several awards at piano competitions around North Carolina.
