Oct. 29, 2014. On Friday, Oct. 31, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band is bringing the funk to Legends at Appalachian State University. Outrageous stage wear and interactive sets will have audience members wrapped up in the incredible energy. Music begins at 10 p.m.
Student tickets are available in advance for $8 and tickets are available at the door for students and non-students for $12 the night of the show. For ticket inquiries, call 828-262-3039 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“Boone is one of the band’s favorite places to play and some members attended ASU,” said Randy Kelly, Student Programs Advisor.
“It has been an annual party for both Boone and Yo Mama for ten years at least.”
A mix of deep funk, wild rock and old school rap, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band’s wild delivery compliments their soulful sound. Having shared the stage with legendary funk icons including Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Maceo Park and Booty Collins, the Booty Band showcases a traditional funky sound with their own added twist.
Fun and silliness are driving forces behind each exceptional concert. Friday’s Halloween jam promises to follow the Booty Band’s typical mantra. With high energy and crazy stage presence, there is no telling what will happen when Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band start to play.
“Although this show is special being on Halloween, the band and many members of the audience will attend in costumes no matter when they perform. Its just that cool and funky,” said Kelly, “The group conveys just how much fun they have making music. They consider every show an event to be shared reciprocally with the audience. Often they bring other performers to share the fun. Sometimes belly dancers, sometimes marching bands, or pole dancers.”
