Workers Prepare to Shift Traffic on U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock, Shift Scheduled for Next Week

unnamed-1
All traffic on a stretch of U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock will be shifted to the newly built future northbound lanes.

Drivers in Blowing Rock will soon see a traffic shift, as workers prepare to open 1.3 miles of newly constructed lanes on U.S. 321.

Both directions of travel between Norwood Circle and Food Lion are anticipated to be shifted to the future northbound lanes sometime between Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 30, weather permitting.

The shift will allow construction of the southbound side to continue out of out traffic, as the North Carolina Department of Transportation widens the highway to four lanes.

Crews will also continue the construction of sidewalks, fencing, and driveway tie-ins on the northbound side. The work will require occasional lane closures, and drivers should watch for flaggers and equipment throughout the project.
