Dec. 5, 2014. The Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge is organizing a “pack the pantry” food drive until Sunday, Dec. 21, to help feed those in need this holiday season for residents of the High Country.
People can drop off non-perishables inside a “Creekside Electronics, Inc.” van from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The van will be located in the parking lot of Yadkin Bank at 2111 Blowing Rock Road in Boone.
Distributing agencies include the Hospitality House, Health & Hunger Coalition, Ashe Sharing Center and Feeding Avery Families. The food will be distributed equally between the counties of Ashe, Avery and Watauga.
“The Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge wants to support families of those counties during the holidays,” said Sabrina Burwell, a representative of the Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge. “No one should go hungry, especially during the holidays.”
