Woman Found Dead in Creek in Avery County, Sheriff: Investigating, Appears Accidental

The Avery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 45-year-old woman who was found unresponsive in a creek in Avery County on Sunday afternoon.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sarah Faye Triplett, of Connolly Springs, was found dead in Little Plumtree Creek by her husband, according to a release from the Avery County Sheriff’s Office.

The release noted that officers from the Avery County Sheriff’s Office and responders from Avery County EMS performed CPR in an attempt to revive Triplett.

“At this time, the death appears accidental, but it is still under investigation by the Avery County Sheriff’s Office,” the release noted.

No other details were released, and Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye didn’t respond to phone calls and messages on Monday morning.
