“You can go to fashion shows just about anywhere during the summer,” said Billie Rogers, Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce events coordinator. “But people don’t really do them in the winter.”

The first ever Winterfest fashion show, called “WinterFashions,” will begin at 11 a.m. at Timberlake’s Restaurant at Chetola Resort.

The newest winter and spring fashions will be featured from the area’s top retail stores including DoncasterMonkeesJW TweedsSister ActTazMaRazCeleste’sThe Fig LeafCouture by Finley House and Almost Rodeo Drive

“It will be a great little day out for the ladies,” Rogers said.

Tickets to the show are $25 and are available through the Blowing Rock Chamber by calling 828-295-7851 or by visiting ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=3237944&pl=blowingrock.

Fashion won’t be the only thing on display during Winterfest. On Saturday, four-legged furry friends will strut their stuff at the annual Winterfest Winter Paws Dog Show.

According to Rogers, the Winter Paws Dog Show usually sees a turnout of around 600 people.

The winner from each category goes on to compete for Best in Show.

Raffle tickets will also be available for sale and  one lucky winner will take home a  doggy basket valued  at over $200 from Victoria’s Paw Spa,  a co-sponsor for this event.

Anyone can register his or her dogs for this annual competition. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. at the gymnasium door. Registration is $10 to register for two categories and $15 for three or more categories.

All proceeds from the Winter Paws Dog Show go to the Watauga Humane Society.
