RaysWeather.com recently announced the winning photographs for the 2017 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar Photo Contest. More than a dozen images were selected for next year’s calendar, including the cover shot awarded to Kathryn Greven for her photo of the Milky Way over the Linn Cove Viaduct.
For her shot, Greven won the grand prize: the cover of the 2017 calendar, a $200 cash prize and $200 gift certificate to RaysMarketplace.com.
Nearly 650 entries were submitted and 14,241 votes were cast. Photographs were chosen based on five criteria: voting results, image quality, one photo per photographer, region and scene diversity, and uniqueness of the scene.
“Every year, the quality of the photographs gets better making selection of winners harder,” RaysWeather.com said in the announcement, adding that more photos will be selected for “cameo spots” throughout the calendar.
