While the rain forecasts for the High Country have been scaled back in the past day, flooding in the region is still a worthy concern over the weekend.
The National Weather Service has a flash flood watch in effect until Sunday at 8 p.m. In addition, a high wind watch is in effect until 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.
On Friday morning, RaysWeather.com posted that the heaviest rainfall will likely occur during a 12-hour period between late tonight and tomorrow.
“While the focus for the heaviest rainfall may have shifted slightly to the south into SC, 3 to 6 inches of rain is a good bet for much of western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia,” RaysWeather.com posted on Facebook.
This change is better for those fans heading to the App State homecoming football game on Saturday. Those who do attend Saturday’s football game will receive a $10 voucher for a future home game this season in football or men’s and women’s basketball.
RaysWeather.com expects things to clear out on Monday and warned its readers of flooding potential and mudslides during this nasty weather.
