What’s New at the Farmers’ Market? Shopping at Horn in the West Sat. Nov. 11

The Watauga County Farmers’ Market will operate from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at 591 Horn in the West.

This will be the second Saturday November Market for 2016.  If it’s anything like our first Saturday, it should be terrific!   We will have 30 outstanding vendors and there will be lots of excellent produce, crisp mountain apples, beautiful holiday wreaths, great holiday gifts, art work, photography, and value added products(salsa’s, pinto cheese, home-made molasses, etc.), and of course, freshly brewed hot coffee and scrumptious baked goods.Saturday will be another great day at the Market!!!

  • Non-Profit – BSG (Blood, Sweat, and Gears) BSG Events, Inc Winter Warmer Project will be offering a “collection site” for donated winter clothing and donations to help with efforts to provide warm coats, other clothing, boots, blankets, food, electricity and fuel to those most in need in the local community.  This will be the 3rd year of providing this service.  In addition, BSG will provide information regarding their upcoming events.  BSG Events, Inc. is a fundraising non-profit whose proceeds from their rides and events are donated to local charities in the High Country.

Produce and Products at the Market – Nov 12, 2016

Mountain Memories Farm – Mountain Memories Farm  —  Samples on the grill  of both lamb and pork.  We have available each week ALL cuts of  LAMB and PORK and BEEF.   Also BACON and a  wide variety of SAUSAGES  in both lamb and pork.   And of course EGGS! – Email orders to be delivered every Thursday at noon  year round.   Please visit our website  mtnmemoriesfarm.com  and click on winter delivery or stop by our booth for more info.   Winter vegetables – collards, turnips and 3 varieties of potatoes.

Blue Ridge Apiaries –  New crop of Goldenrod Honey just harvested in Watauga County.  Complimentary tasting of this fall favorite as well as a smorgasbord of mountain honey available for your pleasure!

Mountain Roots – Shiitake mushrooms, collards, swiss chard, several varieties of kale (green & scarlet curly, dino and red russian), beets, tomatoes (heirloom slicers and mixed cherries), 1/2 runner beans, dragons tongue beans, 6 varieties of eggplant, cucumbers, summer squash & zucchini, baby potatoes, Yukon gold, Kennebec and Red Norland potatoes.chili peppers, sweet banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, broccoli and red cabbage.
