If you’ve been downtown this week, you’ve likely noticed a construction project in front of the Jones House on King Street that began on Monday.
According to Virginia Falck, downtown coordinator for the Town of Boone, the town’s maintenance staff is removing the existing sidewalk and replacing it with seven-foot-wide walkway that will incorporate a brick border.
Falck said that the town is also installing four new street/sidewalk lights as well as two bulb outs. These bulb outs, which will contain planters for small shrubs and flowers, will be installed on both sides of Grand Boulevard to assist motorists turning left or right onto King Street.
“We anticipate this construction will take four to six weeks to complete,” Falck said in an email to downtown merchants.
