Jan. 9, 2015. Have you noticed the gigantic beams near the intersection of the N.C. 105 and the N.C. 105 Bypass?

Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation has permit from the Boone Planning and Inspections Department for temporary staging for a project to begin in the coming months.

The intersection of N.C. 105 and the bypass is the location of the staging area.

Once spring rolls around, BREMCO will begin rebuilding the transmission line between N.C.105 and U.S. 421, according to BREMCO spokeswoman Renee Whitener.

The transmission line was built in the ’50s, and Whitener said that “it’s time to modernize to ensure the best reliability” of electric service in Western Watauga.

Whitener also noted that property owners along the transmission line have been notified and are aware of the upcoming project.
