WCU Student Charged With Raping ASU Student

Nov. 3, 2014. A Western Carolina University student was arrested Sunday and charged with raping an Appalachian State University student, according to a report from Asheville Citizen-Times.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office charged Robert William McRainey, 20, with second-degree rape. He is being held under $100,000 secured bond.

“The alleged incident was reported early Saturday at an apartment on Citadel Drive in Cullowhee … The alleged victim was a 20-year-old woman who lives in Boone. The apartment is the home of two friends of the victim and suspect,” Asheville Citizen-Times reported.
