Weekly N.C. Lotto Winner Wrap-Up, Lottery Prizes Top $26.2 Million Last Week

Sept. 15, 2014. A 3-3-3 combination in the Carolina Pick 3 game highlights a week where lottery winners across the state scratched and matched their way to $26.2 million in total prizes. Six big prizes of $100,000 to $2.6 million were awarded to players this week.

For the second Saturday in a row, a triple number combination was drawn in the Carolina Pick 3 game. Players who had a ticket with the number 3-3-3 in the Sept. 6 daytime drawing won more than $2.8 million in total prizes. An exact match on a $1 Pick 3 ticket wins the game’s top prize of $500. In all, Pick 3 players won more than $5.6 million this week.

The biggest win of the week involves a bit of a fish tale. Something about a morning fishing trip with a brother gave John Wright of Alexander County a “good feeling,” so he bought two lottery tickets on the way home and landed $2.6 million as his catch of the day. Two players claimed their shares of the Sept. 4 Carolina Cash 5 $474,405 jackpot this week. The jackpot was split three ways and each winner collected a $158,135 share.

Alvin Shaw of Fayetteville claimed a $100,000 lottery prize on Monday, which happens to be his wedding anniversary. Thanks to his good luck playing the Crossword 10X game, Shaw said he might take his wife on a cruise. {Read More}

Since Thursday, Sept. 4, lottery players won more than $18.2 million playing instant games and $8 million playing draw games. Seventeen prizes awarded were worth between $10,000 and $50,000. In alphabetical order by the winner’s hometown, they are:

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $52 million if taken as an annuity or $30.7 million if taken as a lump sum. In the Sept. 5 Mega Millions drawing, 27,557 tickets won prizes ranging from $1 to $1,000, totaling $63,296. In Tuesday’s drawing, 20,060 tickets won $52,559 in prizes ranging from $1 to $500.

Saturday’s Powerball players have the chance to win a $149 million jackpot if taken as an annuity or $90.7 million if taken as a lump sum. The Sept. 6 drawing produced 18,015 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $200, totaling $107,706. Wednesday’s drawing produced 16,984 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $10,000, totaling $177,047.
