Several investigations and arrests kept Blowing Rock Police Officers busy this past week.
Kirt Henry Norman, 24, of Morganton was arrested on May 21 for felony trafficking of narcotics. Norman was arrested following a traffic stop on Valley Blvd. Officers found a quantity of narcotics and marijuana as well as scales and other equipment used in the sale and distribution of controlled substances. Norman was also charged with possession of marijuana and driving with no operator’s license. Norman was held in the Watauga County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond.
Aaron Paul Taylor, 24, of Wake Forest was arrested on May 25 for possession of narcotics. Taylor was arrested following a traffic stop on Hill Street. Officers discovered hash oil in the vehicle. Information gathered from Taylor also led to the search of a residence on Hill Street where prescription narcotics were discovered. Taylor was charged with 3 counts of misdemeanor possession of controlled substances and was held in the Watauga County Jail on a $500 secured bond.
Michael Andrew Handley, 24, of Winston Salem was arrested on May 26 for misdemeanor larceny. Handley was arrested on a warrant from Guilford County. Handley was held at the Watauga County Jail on a $500 secured bond.
One traffic accident was reported last week. The accident occurred on Valley Blvd. at Possum Hollow Road. According to the report a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Daniel Sloan Austin of Hamptonville failed to reduce speed and struck a 2010 Subaru driven by Finney Ames Madeline of York, S.C. No injuries were reported and damage was listed as minor.
Seven citations were issued last week. Charges include expired registration, failure to wear seat belts, parking in a handicap zone and no operator’s license.
