Weekly ‘Brief Sheet’ From Blowing Rock PD, Larceny at Tanger Outlets, Construction Site Theft Warrant Issued

Two arrests were made this past weekend for felony larceny. Kristie Dawn McCrain, 40, of Hickory and Rodney Maurice Lutz, 48, of Hickory were charged with felony larceny. The arrest occurred on May 18 after officers were notified that two suspects had left the Coach Store at Tanger Outlets with merchandise that they had not paid for. A description of the suspects and a description of the vehicle they were driving was broadcast to law enforcement in the surrounding area.

brpdpatchThe suspect vehicle was spotted a short time later in Granite Falls by a North Carolina State Trooper. Trooper Milligan stopped the suspects in Granite Falls and notified Blowing Rock Police. Officer Dan White responded to the scene where a search of the vehicle revealed several thousand dollars in stolen merchandise from several stores in both Blowing Rock and Boone. White seized the vehicle and merchandise and took the two suspects into custody.

McCrain and Lutz were both held in the Watauga County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. The incident is still under investigation and more charges are expected.

A suspect has been identified and warrants have been issued for a larceny which occurred on Valley Blvd on May 2. Warrants have been issued for Roger Dale Hinson Jr, 35, of Hudson.  Hinson is wanted for larceny of tools from a construction trailer.

Timothy Andrew Davis, 20, of Hickory was arrested on May 19 for driving after consuming under 21. The arrest followed a traffic stop for speeding on Valley Blvd. Davis was released on a written promise to appear. 

This month North Carolina’s Governors Highway Safety Program is celebrating the 20th year of click it or ticket. The 2013 click it or ticket campaign begins on May 20 and ends on June 2. During the campaign law enforcement officers across the state will be especially diligent looking for seat belt violation.  A seat belt ticket in Watauga County will cost you $161. So remember to buckle up.

Five citations were written last week. Charges include driving while license revoked no operator’s license, no insurance and speeding.
