There are more ways than one to enjoy your summer in the High Country this weekend. With music, art, theatre, a celebration of history and even a tour of local farms on your to-do list, you’re bound to have a good time. Let’s get going!

High Country Farm Tour in Watauga

Here’s your chance to find out where your food comes form and to learn about local farmers. Gather your friends and family on Saturday morning and make a day of it! Look at the map depicting participating locations and plan your own trip through farms and gardens in the area that will be hosting open house events. Pay $20 per carload at the first farm you visit to receive your pass to all farms that day. Click here for a map and more information.

Fine Arts and Master Crafts Festival in Banner Elk

This 24th annual juried festival will take place Friday through Sunday at the Historic Banner Elk School. It will involve nearly 75 different vendors, ranging from pottery to jewelry and wood, stone and glass artwork. There will also be paintings, live art, baked goods, photography and all types of hand-made art mediums. Click here for dates and times.

Appalachian State University’s annual multidisciplinary summer arts festival has an impressive lineup waiting for you this weekend! Don’t miss David Grisman Sextet and the Bryan Sutton Band on Friday, pop legends The Beach Boys on Saturday and the annual Rosen-Schaffel Young and Emerging Artists Competition on Sunday. ‘Speaking Figuratively’ at the Art Cellar

Check out the latest show on display at the Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk this weekend to see figurative acrylic-on-canvas by Tim Turner, sculpture by Jane Jaskevich and clay pieces by Lisa Joerling. Art in the Park in Blowing Rock

Make your way to downtown Blowing Rock from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enjoy this month’s juried Art in the Park show. The event’s high standards and professional jury attract artisans from all over the Southeast, as well as thousands who are drawn to the mountains to enjoy the displays. Jeff Little Trio at the Harvest House

With his rack-mounted harmonica and vocals, Little can be a one-man show. This weekend, however, you’ll also be treated to former National Banjo Champion Steve Lewis and bass player Josh Scott, who will join Jeff. Performances at Ensemble Stage

Blowing Rock’s own professional theatre company offers two great shows this weekend. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, catch Killing Time, a Richard Stockwell play, the chance meeting of a man and a woman turns into a twisted tale that’s anything but innocent. Junaluska Jubilee

Join Boone’s historic black neighborhood, Junaluska, for its fourth annual jubilee from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday as it honors the venerable Boone Mennonite Brethren Church. Meet at the church, 161 Church St., to participate in the festivities. Coffee and hospitality begin at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall. An 11 a.m. celebration service will be followed by lunch in the fellowship hall (monetary donations are welcomed). Afternoon entertainment begins at 2 p.m. and includes a magician, the Junaluska Gospel Choir and a homemade cake raffle. Call 828-773-2540 if you plan to attend. Attendance is free.

Vintage Valle Music on Sunday

Hear from The Dollar Brothers, St. Luke’s Threshold Singers and the Junaluska Gospel Choir at Baird’s Creek Presbyterian Church, 2147 N.C. Highway 194 S. in Vilas, for this month’s Vintage Valle Music special. There is no admission, but don’t forget to bring canned food or nonperishable items for the Western Watauga Food Outreach.
