Black Friday in Downtown Boone All Weekend
Don’t feel like lining up outside at the crack of dawn or getting trampled at big box stores on Black Friday? Check out these deals from downtown Boone businesses. While most of the deals take place on Friday, some have already started and others continue past the weekend.

Blowing Rock Lighting of the Town and Annual Christmas Parade
As winter sets in, Blowing Rock looks forward to hosting visitors and locals alike for the holiday season. During this holiday interlude the town glows with the warmth of hospitality along its downtown streets, storefronts holiday-lighted and enticing. Once in town, folks can shop, eat, get in the holiday spirit and then choose and cut a Christmas tree at a local farm before heading home.

Annual Punt, Pass and Kick Contest and Cookout
Football Season is here. Come out and show your football skills for the annual Punt, Pass and Kick Contest and Cookout. Can you punt the furthest? Can you pass the longest? Can you kick the highest? Awards will be given for the best in each category and age group and a celebratory cookout will also be held for the participating athletes. There will also be a pick-up two-hand-touch football game after the cookout. So come out and unleash your inner all-star at this great All-American event.

Watauga County Farmers Holiday Market
The last Watauga County Holiday Market will be held at the Horn in the West parking lot on Saturday, Nov. 24 fron 9 a.m. to noon. At the market patrons can stock up on local foods for their holiday meals, decorations for their homes, and beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends.

Beech Mountain Holiday Market
The Beech Mountain Holiday Market will be held at the Buckeye Recreation Center on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. This family friendly venue hosts handmade arts and crafts from local vendors and artisans, as well as gifts for the whole family. Vendors are still being accepted, and the charge for booths is $10.

Ashe County Farmers’ Market
The Ashe County farmers market, located in downtown West Jefferson, is hosting it’s holiday market on four upcoming weekends this year. On Satuday, Nov. 17; Friday, Nov. 23; Saturday, Nov. 24 and Satuday, Dec. 1 the holiday market will be open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Mountain Home Music’s ‘A Celtic Christmas’
“A Celtic Christmas” is jigs and reels, waltzes and airs, stories and songs, carols and a unique season of celebration. Anne Lough, from Asheville, will perform on the mountain and hammer dulcimer and will sing traditional Celtic songs. Cecil Gurganus, from Todd, will fiddle Celtic and traditional Appalachian fiddle tunes; and Mark Freed, from Boone, will join Gurganus on the old-time banjo.

Premier Wine Tasting at Peabody’s
Peabody’s will be having their weekly wine tasting for those who want a day to relax and do some tasting of the featured wines. Peabody’s has something that should strike the interest of all who have a pallet for good wine.
