On Saturday morning, the High Country will wake up to April snow showers.
The Weather Channel is forecasting 3 to 5 inches of snow to fall tonight in Boone. This compares to RaysWeather.com’s forecast of a dusting to half an inch of snow for most of the High Country region and 1 to 4 inches for elevations above 4,000 feet by Saturday at noon.
On another note, high winds will continue. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning, and RaysWeather.com notes that winds will be stronger on Friday night and Saturday.
The high wind warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. This means that sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of nearly 60 mph or more are expected.
Temperatures will be chilly this weekend – not even counting the wind chill potential. A low of 27 and 20 degrees is forecasted for Friday and Saturday nights.
