Watauga County Board of Education recognized several individuals at its March meeting, including Watauga County Schools Spanish Language Interpreter Yolanda Adams, WCS Principal of the Year Valle Crucis’ Preston Clarke and school social workers Megan Langdon and Heather Holbrook.
Dr. Paul Holden recognized school social workers Megan Langdon and Heather Holbrook. Holden said the two were great examples of the dedication and hard work that school social workers engage in on a daily basis.
Watauga County Schools Spanish Language Interpreter Yolanda Adams was presented this month’s Servants Heart Award by Superintendent Dr. Scott Elliott. Elliott said that, in her work, Adams served not only as a voice for WCS’ Hispanic community, but as a true advocate and ally. He said for many families, Adams served as a first line of support. ‘When someone has an issue, they know they can pick up the phone and call Yolanda,’ Elliott said. Pictured are Elliott, Adams, husband Jay Adams and children Joshuah and Hannah.
The board joined WCS Assistant Superintendent Dr. Stephen Martin in recognizing Watauga County Schools Principal of the Year Valle Crucis’ Preston Clarke. Martin said Clarke was a dedicated and able leader at Valle Crucis who considered his students and staff as his friends and worked tirelessly as an advocate for his school.
