Watauga Public Library Closes Early Today, Western and Main Branch Thursday in Honor of Evelyn Johnson

Jan. 16, 2012. The Watauga County Public Library in Boone will close early on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. and the main library in Boone and the Western Watauga Branch in Sugar Grove will close on Thursday, Jan. 17, at noon in honor of “our beloved colleague Evelyn Johnson,” Watauga County Librarian Monica Caruso said in an email on Wednesday morning. 

Johnson worked at the library for more than three decades. She started working their during a two-month internship in the summer of 1977 and never left.

The main library is located at 140 Queen Street in downtown Boone.

The Western Watauga Branch is located at 1085 Old U.S. 421 in Sugar Grove.
