Watauga Humane Society to Host Herb, Seed, Garden Treasure and Yard Art Sale on May 9

Save the date!

The Watauga Humane Society will host its sixth annual Spring Perennial Herb, Seed, Garden Treasure and Yard Art Sale on Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Precision Printing, 1302 Blowing Rock Road in Boone. All growing things come from the well-established gardens of SNIPS (Spay and Neuter Is a Positive Solution) committee members and friends, who also create beautiful glass and metal yard art and garden treasures. All proceeds will fund the low-cost spay-neuter specials offered regularly at WHS.386105_300381316679369_48161118_n

Perennials for sale will be bee balm, black eyed Susan, catchfly, columbine, crocosmia, day lilies, Echinacea (purple), ferns, forget-me-nots, hosta, lily of the valley, ox-eye daisy, phlox, primrose, Queen Anne’s lace, Rudbeckia (pale yellow and bright yellow), sedum, shasta daisies, star of Bethlehem, sundrop/lemondrop, wild pink geranium, wood poppy, and yellow swamp iris. Four o’clocks, lupine, moonflower and Thumbelina zinnias grown from seed complete the flower collection.

Herbs will include feverfew, sage, tarragon and thyme in large pots, and cilantro, oregano and thyme in small pots. You’ll even find basil, spring onions and lettuce from seed. A special offering will be a 4’ long decorative herb planter complete with basil, cilantro, oregano, tarragon and thyme.

Azaleas and rhododendron, spirea (dark and light pink) and Rose of Sharon round out the shrubbery list, and we’ll have a variety of hand-harvested flower and vegetable seeds, as well as spider plants and aloe.
