The first round of the contest will begin at noon, with judges judging the carved creations based on carving skill and appearance, how the pumpkin looks lit up by an LED light in a dark room and how well the carved pumpkin fits the overall theme of the competition, “Adopt Me!”

All entries must be at the Watauga Humane Society Adoption Center Turchin Education room by noon on Oct. 25 for judging. The top four finalists will be contacted by 3 p.m. on Oct. 25.

Finalists for the contest must be present in the Turchin Room at 6 p.m. The finalists will compete in a time-limited pumpkin carving competition.

The winners can receive prizes such as an 8×8 photo tile of the winning pumpkin and a shelter pet displayed at the adoption center, a Bare Bones Boutique Gift Certificate, a free monthly pass to the dog park, a free weekly pass to the dog park, a WHS hoodie or a WHS tee-shirt.
