With 23 Years Experience, Forster Hired as Watauga Humane Society’s Major Gifts Development Director

Ron Forster brings 23 years of fundraising and business development experience to the Watauga Humane Society.

July 21, 2014. Watauga Humane Society today announced that Ron Forster has been named Major Gifts Development Director. Ron will manage the large donor program, solicit large gifts on behalf of the organization and manage relationships with donors and donor prospects.

President Jan Watson of the Watauga Humane Society stated, “We are very pleased to bring Ron on board, and we are confident he will strengthen our ability to continue the work we do for the animals here in Watauga County.

Ron has a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He also brings with him many years of award winning customer service in the auto industry and marketing for the Nascar Team of Joe Gibbs Racing. Ron has worked with Watauga Opportunities helping clients secure employment and as an Instructor in Health, Leisure and Exercise Science and Faculty Advisor at Appalachian State University. Additionally, he is a Professional Sponsor of Head Racquetball teaching and coaching head racquetball and providing equipment to players for Team Head. Our community continues to benefit from his service with the Boone Optimist Club, Watauga Little League and Watauga County Special Olympics.

As the new Development Director, Ron has already created several much needed new fundraising programs and a big buzz of enthusiasm at the Adoption Center among the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.

Watauga Humane Society was incorporated in December of 1969 as a a not-for-profit charitable organization and dedicated to all aspects of animal welfare. The Watauga Humane Society animal shelter is located at 312 Paws Way, Boone, North Carolina.

The center has facilities for the housing and care of homeless dogs and cats. We provide food, shelter, medical care and lots of love to the homeless animals at the Adoption Center and we work to find permanent, loving homes for them. In an effort to help control the pet population, we offer low-cost spay/neuter through our partnership with Humane Alliance in Asheville.
