Horn in the West to host First of Two Watauga Holiday Farmers’ Markets on Saturday Morning, Nov. 17

Nov. 16, 2012. The Watauga County Holiday Market will be held at the Horn in the West parking lot on Saturday Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. At the market patrons can stock up on local foods for their holiday meals, decorations for their homes, and beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends.

“We usually expect 1,500 – 2,000 people to come if the weather holds up,” said Bill Moretz, who runs the market. “Right now there are about 40 vendors signed up. We hope to have around 50 or 60.”

This years holiday market will feature Christmas cards, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, handmade pottery, gingerbread, gift baskets and other holiday items as well as the usual produce, baked goods, handmade goods and flowers.

The Watauga market will also host the PHARMN Kid’s Market at the Kids Corner of the Horn in the West parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon during the holiday market. Children twelve and under are encouraged to bring their own produce, plants, flowers, drawings and  crafts to the Kid’s Corner of the market between 9 a.m. and noon to set up and sell.

The Watauga market is still open for vendor registration, with online sign ups at www.wataugacountyfarmersmarket.org.

The next holiday market will be on Nov. 24, 2012 at the Horn in the West parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon.
