With another Veterans Day come and gone, we are reminded once again of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country.

The Town of Boone is grateful for the opportunity to give back to our veterans by assisting the High Country Chapter of Military Officers Association of America with a memorial which is to be constructed next to Town Hall on King Street.

Thanks to the Watauga County Commissioners for their generous donation of $25,000, and along with other donations, the HCCMOAA are off to a fantastic start in their fundraising efforts. Submissions for the memorial design competition open on Dec. 1, 2016 with a deadline for entries of March 17, 2017.

The competition is open to artists who currently reside in the United States and are 18 years of age or older. For more information about the contest, please contact Lindsay Miller at veteranmemorialboonenc@gmail.com or at 828.262.7544.
